That’s exactly why he warns people against it. Thanks to fake news, filter bubbles and social bots, corporations, policymakers and criminals are increasingly gaining control over much of humanity. Schlecky Silberstein analyzes “data casino capitalism” in which our data is used as a commodity in order to predict and influence our behavior. Not only did Donald Trump know how to use it on his way to power, our own society also threatens to be controlled by programmable propaganda machines. Can we learn how to use the internet responsibly or would it only help to shut it down immediately?
