Patient Krankenhaus. Doktor Faber hat Dienst
Equipped with provisions and fresh linens, Dr. Faber, resident at a German hospital, starts his 24-hour on-call shift at 10:00 a.m. In addition to his ward, the young doctor will be responsible for 150 patients from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the following morning including the ICU. As if it weren’t enough, he has to step in for a colleague in the ER for three hours. Faber takes his cue from three pagers and goes from patient to patient. The doctor is so caught up in the system that he doesn’t question it. An informative and rousing non-fiction novel that impressively and realistically accounts what a doctor in the German health system experiences.
